How to Make Natural Deodorant

Are you a creative person who likes to try out new things? Have you thought of making a natural deodorant, but you are unsure of what products to use? If you have some ingredients such as coconut oil, baking powder, and essential oils then you are in the right place.

This article highlights some of the ingredients that can be used, where to find them, how to make them, and their benefits for the body.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil can be bought from the supermarket or a retail store. Since it is a type of saturated oil, it is sticky. This can also be extracted from the white inner parts of a coconut. To extract this, use the following steps

– Grind the inner parts of the coconut into a bowl.

– Ensure the particles are as small as possible and well-refined.

– Add some water to the small coconut particles.

– Using a cloth with very small pores or your hands, squeeze out the water from the residue.

– Heat the components under medium heat.

– Let it cool, then extract the oil from the cooling components.

Coconut oil is essential for moisturizing the skin and promoting an even skin pigment. Having antibacterial pigments, coconut oil is good for neutralizing bacterial present in sweat.

Note, you only need 1/3 a cup of this.

Cornstarch

Cornstarch is present in retail stores as well. Some are made from corn companies and others home-based. It is a bit difficult to come up with corn starch at home unless you have a miller or a centrifuge. If you have these, follow the following steps

– Gather some corn that is mature and not as dry.

– Grind the corn and ensure the particles are even.

– Soak in water for around 48 hours.

– Transfer the contents into a centrifuge and wait for the final product.

Corn starch is important for the skin as it has a moisturizing effect, reducing skin dryness and irritation. It also can absorb odor from sweat produced by the body.

Note, you only need ¼ cup of this.

I/4 cup of baking soda

Baking soda is important for absorbing moisture from surfaces, and this includes sweat. It is also used as an antibacterial ingredient by neutralizing the acidic nature of sweat to an optimum pH level.

Baking soda can be bought from a retail store, as it is very difficult to make your baking soda at home.

Essential oils

Oils are purposefully for adding a fragrance to your deodorant. This could be vanilla flavored oils, castor oil, or olive oil.

This is good for neutralizing the smell of sweat from your sweat glands.

Note, you require 6-10 drops of this.
